Waldport is halfway between Newport and Yachats. It is a small community of about 2,000 people with fantastic beaches and some of the best crabbing and clamming on the Oregon coast

There is ample parking on the estate. You will need a car to get around, although you can access the town of Waldport with our watercraft

The Lodge at Cannery Estate is nestled in an old-growth forest grove on Alsea Bay that the Alsea People named "Peace" and "Paradise" because of its mild climate and bountiful sustenance from land and sea.


This former copper artist's workshop is now a 1,500 sf open-concept home with a rustic | contemporary | farmhouse style. It has a beautiful King bedroom, a Queen sleeping loft and a Double Serta Sleeper sofa bed to comfortably accommodate six guests (maximum four adults)


The Lodge is located on the grounds of a 5-acre estate on Alsea Bay. This site was a seasonal Alsea fishing village for thousands of years, and in the 1850's became the location of the first Waldport settlement. There was a cannery, post office, general store and ferry landing. The entire settlement burned down in 1916, and in 1926 the original Cannery owner's daughter built a lovely Craftsman manor home that stands here today.

The pilings from the cannery can be seen on our beaches, and further down the beach is a small waterfall, fern grotto and the ruins of more of the settlement that housed the cannery workers.


In addition to the stylish new interior, our guests have access to three private beaches at low tide, an outdoor kitchen with wood-burning fireplace, 8-person spa, firepit, gazebo, creek, pond & She Shed and our watercraft: Kayaks, Hydrobikes, and a 5-Person Paddleboat.


This incredible location provides endless opportunities to enjoy your time on the coast. You can crab or clam from our property, fish, hike down the beach to explore the ruins, and hunt for agates and beach glass on our private beaches, not to mention kayak, paddleboat or use our Hydrobikes to explore the bay and rivers.


There is incredible wildlife at the property. Curious harbor seals and river otters will pop their heads out of the water to say hello. Herons, loons and countless other sea birds patrol the sandbars at low tide. There is a nesting pair of Bald Eagles on our property with a clutch of one to four eaglets each year, and we have seen pods of orcas. In the backyard, there are bunnies, bluejays and chipmunks.


We live in the main home (The Cannery) on the property part of the year, with our four large and extremely friendly Rottweilers and a Bombay cat who is the fifth Rottweiler. We generally do not use the common areas when our guests are in residence out of respect for their privacy.


If any members of your party are nervous around, or allergic to, large dogs (or Bombay cats), we are not a good fit.


During the part of the year that we do not live at the property, generally the summer months, you may be sharing the watercraft with guests from the main house.

This historic waterfront property offers incredible views and wildlife, an 8-person spa, an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, private beaches at low tide, two outdoor showers, a firepit, a kayak/canoe launch, a kayak shack with Hydro-Bikes, Kayaks and a Paddle Boat for our guest's use, pond, creek, gazebo with benches (perfect for picnics), creekside Tea House/She-Shed & multiple entertainment areas.


The mild microclimate of Alsea Bay results in temperatures that are generally 10 degrees warmer, with much less wind than the oceanfront.


Guests are welcome to bring their own non-motorized watercraft. For guests with boats, the new Waldport boat launch ramp and marina is right across the bay.


The wildlife is incredible. On a daily basis, we see harbor seals, cranes, cormorants, herons, and river otters. Bald eagles and falcons nest on the property. There are occasional orca sightings. An incredible variety of waterfowl. Bunnies, squirrels and chipmunks scamper through the back yard in the spring and summer.


Please note that this listing is for the main home on the estate. We live here part of the year in an adjacent guesthouse with a separate entrance and driveway. We generally do not use the common area amenities when our guests are in residence, so they can enjoy them undisturbed.


When we are not in residence, (often during the summer) the guest house will also likely be rented, and it has its own spa and grill so you will not be sharing these amenities.

We have four extremely friendly Rottweilers and a Bombay cat, BC, who considers himself the fifth Rottweiler. They enjoy coming to greet our guests, and then return to their fulltime jobs of sleeping, swimming in the bay, and patrolling the shoreline for marauding Harbor Seals.


If anyone in your party is nervous around, or allergic to, large dogs (or Bombay cats), we are not a good fit for you.





current COVID19 outbreak, we are taking additional steps to ensure the health and safety of our guests. Our homes are professionally sanitized after each guest, with all doorknobs, light switches, thermostats, remote controls, etc. treated with antiviral-antibacterial agents. Bedding is washed on the hottest settings with bleach.

The Estate sits on five private waterfront acres on gorgeous Alsea Bay, just outside the town of Waldport. It is like a private island, but the town of Waldport with all necessary services is only a five minute drive.


The property is gated and offers two wonderful homes; The Cannery and The Lodge; three private beaches, an 8-person spa, a firepit, a large pavilion with an outdoor kitchen and wood-burning fireplace, a gazebo with views of the water and Alsea Bay, a kayak/canoe launch, a creek, a pond, a She Shed for quiet relaxation, and lovely grounds.


Kayaks, Hydrobikes and a paddleboat are available for our guests. You can clam and crab on the property with our equipment, or walk down our beaches to see the pilings that are all that remains of the original cannery and ferry landing. Further down the beach, towards the ocean, you can visit a small waterfall, a fern gully, and the ruins of the original settlement of Waldport.


The property offers a pool table, a regulation size ping pong table, a library/den, multiple fireplaces, two chef's kitchens and an outdoor kitchen, two exterior dining areas, two bars (family room and game room), two sets of washers and dryers, games, two 150" hi-rez projector screens and a 65" smart TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime and HBO, multiple Bluetooth speakers and Echo Dots for your musical enjoyment. There are multiple areas to gather or to relax, all with incredible water views.


This property was used by the Alsea people for thousands of years as a fishing village. In the 1800's, the first Waldport settlement was located here. It included a salmon cannery, general store and post office as well as the ferry landing. Some of the pilings and ruins of this settlement can still be seen on our property and along the shoreline to the ocean. The cannery and the general store burned down in 1915.


The main home, now known as The Cannery, was built by the cannery owner's daughter in 1926, and offers four bedrooms and three and 1/2 baths in about 4,000 square feet, plus a large basement game room.


The second home, The Lodge, served as the workshop for a well-known local copper artist and jewelry designer. Totally renovated into a contemporary loft home, it is 1,500 square feet and offers one bedroom, a sleeping loft and a pullout sofa to accommodate six.


Both homes underwent a painstaking 10-month renovation, and are now ready to begin a new chapter in the property's history as we welcome guests.


Better than the beach! Our sheltered location on Alsea Bay generally results in temperatures that are about 10 degrees warmer than the beach, with mild weather most of the year. Kayaking, canoeing, paddle boating, clamming, crabbing, fishing and wildlife watching are all right here.


The native people of this area named it Alsea, or "peace/paradise" in their language, due to the bounty of nature and the mild climate that meant abundance for all.


There is an amazing variety of wildlife at the property. A bonded pair of Bald Eagles nest here (they have hatched up to FOUR eaglets! We usually see them all together once each year when Mom and Dad teach them to hunt for shellfish on the sandbar in front of the house at low tide), and there are daily sightings of river otters, harbor seals, great blue herons, loons and many other sea birds, while on the grounds of the property you will see many chipmunks, rabbits, bluejays and squirrels.


This area is well known for its crabbing and clamming, which can be done from our property without a license by our guests, or if you want to clam or crab further afield, a shellfish license is available online at minimal cost.


Salmon and other fishing is abundant. An Oregon fishing license is required.


Bring your kayak or canoe, and if you have a boat the new Waldport boat launch is just across the bay. There are also kayaks, Hydro Bikes and a 5-person paddle boat available for our guest's use.
