Built in the 1930's, in what is now the Olympic National Forest, this cabin was built as part of New Deal to provide homes for people working in the area.

Built in the 1930's, in what is now the Olympic National Forest, this cabin was built as part of New Deal to provide homes for people working in the area. In the 1970's the cabin was transported to its current location. It is now sited on a 1 acre property bordered on the west side by an unnamed creek and is close to the newly restored Elwah River. This rustic cabin is only 5 minutes from the public access to Lake Sutherland, and only 15 minutes west of Port Angeles, Washington.

In a truly rustic setting, this home comfortably accommodates parties of 6-8 guests. As you enter the large cabin, you come into an open area with the dining room and kitchen to the left and the living room to the right. A stairway leads to the loft and master bedroom. At the back of the main floor are the guest bedrooms, full bathroom and the laundry room/mud room. The first guest room has 2 twin beds. The second guest room has a full bed. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a king-sized bed, a thoughtfully engineered "electronics charging station". The TV has a HDMI cable available to hook up to your laptop and a DVD player. The loft has games, a reading nook and floor space to play or accommodate a couple extra guests in sleeping bags. Please call to arrange sleeping mats for additional guests. Additional guest charges apply. The loft looks down onto the living room where there is a comfortable seating area to gather by the warmth of the wood stove or enjoy the large flat screen smart TV. There is no cable or other TV service here, so bring your own Netflix or Amazon accounts or even just sit an talk. Limited rural internet; Hot spot (10 G/month, first come first serve). There is also a DVD player with this TV. 

If you are looking for a home base to explore the North Olympic Peninsula, this history rich cabin on over 1 acre is the place you want to be. In the Elwah Valley you are framed by the Olympic Mountains where there are lots of popular hikes in the valley and surrounding area. The Olympic Hot Springs, Sol Duc Falls and Hot Springs, and Marymere Falls are close by and favorite destinations. Families with young children will love this rustic get away. Search the creek for crawdads. Visit Lake Sutherland for Kokanee fishing or water sports or take in the nearby Lake Crescent. There is plenty of parking on the property if you are bringing a boat and trailer. Don't miss the exquisite Makah Museum in Neah Bay or the Hoh Rain Forest, both o easy driving distance. Stop by Granny's Cafe, just down the road, for a country cafe dining experience. Be sure to leave room for pie!. Enjoy evening fires and s'mores at the fire pit, and games on the large lawn area. Don't forget to stop at any of the local (Port Angeles) grocery stores or gas stations to get wood for the fire pit and wood stove.

Extended stay? No problem, the cabin is equipped with a washer and dryer in the laundry/mud room. There's plenty of room for meal prep in the kitchen with island. There is a full sized fridge, electric stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, electric kettle and brew coffee pot. There is a pantry for easy access to your groceries. The dining table has leaves to seat 6 at the table. We provide pots and pans, cooking utensils, plates, glasses, cups and utensils. We also provide bed and bath linens, paper products, shampoo and soap, and hair dryer. Bring you groceries, including your favorite spices, teas and coffees. 

This rustic retreat is perfect for hikers, bicyclers, families, explorers, fishing and hunting groups.

West Of The Elwah

Come get away at this relaxing lakefront cottage, located on beautiful Lake Sutherland, in the heart of the North Olympic Peninsula. Lakefront Cottage is one of two bungalow duplex units, each with its own patio area, hot tub, and lakefront deck with picnic table.

Come get away at this relaxing lakefront cottage, located on beautiful Lake Sutherland, in the heart of the North Olympic Peninsula. Lakefront Cottage is one of two bungalow duplex units, each with its own patio area, hot tub, and lakefront deck with picnic table. It is the perfect retreat for a few days of fishing, hiking, swimming, exploring, or just relaxing surrounded by beautiful views. Lakefront Cottage has 1 bedroom with a double-sized bed, 1 bathroom with toilet, sink and a shower, plus an open concept kitchen and living room area. A double-sized pull-out sofa in the living room, offers additional sleeping space. This property sleeps 4 comfortably. Bring your boats or jet skis with you. Lake Sutherland is one of the few lakes here that allow motor boats. There is a public boat launch entrance just about 90 feet before you arrive at the private community that Lakefront Cottage is in. The community has a private mooring dock where you can tie up your boat (first come first serve.) There are two kayaks and life vests of various sizes. Please note that all water activities are at your own risk. Directly in front of the cottage, on the lake, is the community swim dock. Please keep motorized vehicles away from this area. There is a gas grill on the patio, perfect for grilling your favorites. Also provided for your use, is a large chest freezer that you will find between the grilling areas of the two units. There is ice for guests and each unit has a shelf for favorite frozen treats or other groceries needing to be on ice. The surrounding area is quite rural, so if you are arriving late, you may want to stop in Port Angeles for a bite to eat and any other groceries you might want. Once you leave Port Angeles, on the way to Lakefront Cottage, you may also plan to visit at a couple of our local wineries. Located only a mile from each other, these two local wineries are just roughly 15 minutes away from Lakefront Cottage. Harbinger is the most Northwestern winery in the continental United States. Passionate about wine, they offer tastings Mondays through Saturdays, 11 am to 6 pm, except major holidays. Our other local winery, Camaraderie Cellars has beautiful gardens, a picnic area and tasting rooms. Camaraderie Cellars offers live music and wine tastings each Sunday. Once you arrive at Lakefront Cottage and this wonderful lakefront community, you might not want to leave!

Located just 15 minutes west of Port Angeles, this 2 level home on Lake Sutherland has two bedrooms, a full bathroom with walk-in shower, an open-concept living space - complete with kitchen, dining banquette and living room, large deck with panoramic views of the lake, and a lake side patio complete with outdoor fireplace and "bar".

Mallard Cove Lakefront Retreat is 1 of 2, 1200 square feet duplex units. This unit comes with 2 kayaks and a paddle board for guest use (there are life vests here, but please bring your own to ensure a proper fit). Guests also have access to the community swim dock, pool and private moorage (first come, first serve). There is parking for 2 cars in front of the unit. If you are traveling with a boat and trailer, there is room in the guest parking area for your trailer. The public boat launch is just 90 feet before the lakefront community. Come enjoy lakefront living in this newly renovated, well-appointed home. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove/oven, full refrigerator/freezer, microwave and dishwasher, a brew coffee pot and coffee grinder. Pots, pans, dish ware and utensils are provided, as are dish soap, dishwasher detergent, linens, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Both bedrooms have queen-sized beds and large closet spaces. One of the bedrooms is on the main floor. The bathroom with shower is also located on the main floor. There is a washer and dryer for you, too. The other bedroom is down the spiral staircase. This bedroom looks out onto the lake and has a sliding door so you can step outside to look over the lakeside patio. Back up on the main floor, step out onto the large deck. Relax and enjoy the panoramic views of Lake Sutherland. Watch for the resident eagle. Its roost is in a large tree, "2:00" as you sit on the deck. Grill an evening meal on the propane grill and have dinner, outside, surrounded by the Olympic Mountains. You can enjoy an evening at the lake relaxing by the warmth of a fire in the fire pit on the deck, or walk down to the patio and make a wood fire in the outdoor fireplace. Grab your favorite cocktail and sit at the lakeside "bar". Needing to stay connected. This property has Wi-Fi internet access and a Verizon tower, close by provides excellent cell service. There is a 42" flat screen TV in the living room. Cable TV is provided. There is a DVD player, too, so bring your favorite movies. This property is a perfect lake house get away for a group of 4. There is a double futon couch in the living room if extra sleeping accommodations are needed. There is room for a 5th guest, however an additional charge will apply. The lake also allows jet skis. Please be advised: All water activities are at your own risk. Wanting a fishing get away? Lake Sutherland is a great place to catch Kokanee (land-locked salmon). No live bait is allowed for fishing on Lake Sutherland, so bring your power bait or "wedding bells", "cowbells" or "spoons".
