One of the first homes to be built in the area, this house was featured in Sunset Magazine, in March of 1955 and again in January of 1956, for its innovative heating system and the owner/builder's creative use of rescued materials. The exterior of the house is finished with recycled brick from an old fire in Port Angeles. The siding of the house is recovered from an old dock that had been torn down. There are three bedrooms, a full bathroom with tub/shower combo, and another bathroom with a large walk-in shower. There are queen-sized beds in two of the bedrooms. The third bedroom has a stand-alone twin and also twin bunk beds. Each of the bedrooms, along with the living room and family room, has a TV with cable service. There is even a VHS player in the third bedroom, with the 3 twin beds. There is hi-speed internet that is shared with the other vacation home on the property, Sunset Studio. As you enter the front door of Sunset House you have the dining room on your right with a dining table and seating for 6 (extra leaves and chairs available). There is also an organ for evening sing-along, if you are so inclined and talented. The dining room is open to the living room with its comfortable seating area, wood stove, TV and DVD player. There are board games to play, too. Do bring your own seasoned dry wood to burn in the wood stoves (one in the living room and one in the family room). Wood is available at any one of our numerous grocery and convenience stores. The large windows that frame the living room allow for great lighting. A laundry room with washer and dryer are available for guest use. The kitchen and family room are located in the west side of the house, along with the interior entrance to the large sun room. In the backyard, there is a picnic table for outdoor dining and games, and fire pit for evening s'mores. There is even a disc golf set and Bocce ball for friendly outdoor competitions
Close by are Cline Spit, Dungeness Landing County Park, Dungeness Wildlife Refuge, the Olympic Game Farm and main street Sequim. Don't forget to visit our Open Aire Market on Saturdays, at the center of town, from May 15 – October 15.
This is a no-pet home.
